Ground floor, beside the winter garden
The Casual Room
The casino of the Half Casual house in Kołobrzeg: one room, five tables and a short bar, under the same roof as your bedroom.
Inside the house, not next to it
The Casual Room is the casino of our own hotel. It is not run by another company and it has no street door of its own; you reach it from the hall, in slippers if you like. The room is the back half of the ground floor, the old amber workshop, with its long north windows and the zinc-topped benches where the stones were polished.
From the desk you cross the hall, pass the cloakroom on your left and turn right: twenty-two steps, all indoors. There is always a member of staff at the door while the room is open, and nobody walks in unseen.

The room
Five tables is a small casino. On a wet Friday in November two of them may be enough; on a Saturday in August all five are busy from about nine. The bar is one of the workshop benches, and it closes forty-five minutes before the tables do.
The north windows let the light in, so the room never feels like a cellar. The walls are bare brick, the floor is oak boards that still carry a few amber chips in the cracks, and there is no music. A clock hangs over the bar where everyone can see it, and staff will tell you the time straight away if you ask, because hours slip by in rooms like this.
We ask for clothes you would wear to dinner. The beach is across the promenade and the brine pool is downstairs, so we do get guests in bathrobes at the door; they are sent upstairs to change, kindly.
Age and identification
Polish law sets the casino age at 18, and we make no exceptions, whether for a family celebration or a guest who looks older. Teenagers on a family trip are welcome everywhere else in the house.
The law also requires every casino in Poland to register each guest before entry, from a document that proves name and age. That means you show an identity document at the door every time, even if you checked in three hours ago and had supper in the house. We accept a passport, an EU identity card or a Polish identity card, the original only; a picture of it on your phone will be politely refused.
No one under 18 enters the room at any time of day, including the morning hours when it is shut and the cleaners are in.
Limits and stopping
Before you play, tell the supervisor the most you intend to spend. It is written down with the time. When you reach it, they say so, and they will not change more money for you that night. If you cannot decide a figure, ask them to help you set one.
To stop for longer, speak to the desk in person, not to the casino staff and not by phone. The desk can refuse you entry to The Casual Room from that evening, for a period you choose, and it is lifted at the same desk, in person, never anywhere else. If you live in Great Britain or the Netherlands, your national self-exclusion schemes do not cover Poland, so ask us as well.
The casino gives no credit, the hotel does not add play to your bill, and there is no cash machine in the building.
No gaming on this website
The Casual Room is a hotel casino on the Kołobrzeg seafront, and that is the whole of it. This page tells you about the room. The website does not run games, take bets, open accounts or move money.
The only way to play is to come to ul. Bursztynowa 6, show your document at the door and sit at a table. None of that happens online, and none of it happens here.
If gaming worries you, the Polish behavioural addiction line is 801 889 880, every day from 17:00 to 22:00. More lines are on the safer play page.
