The Most Important Thing About Trump’s Meeting With Al Gore
President-elect Donald Trump sat down with Al Gore on Monday to make uncomfortable small talk about voting recounts, followed by a lengthy conversation that centered around their differing views on climate change. Contrary to my initial reaction, it seems that the meeting went somewhat well. Am I proud of Gore for getting a face-to-face with Trump prior to Trump’s inauguration? Yup. Am I proud of Trump for welcoming a dialogue on climate change? Also yup. Am I now more hopeful that Trump may backtrack from the hard stance he took against the reality of climate change during his campaign? Yeah, sure. I’m excited about all of the above positives that came out of the meeting, but there’s one other thing that Gore brought up to Trump that our government needs to be better prepared for. I’m referring to a far greater threat to our planet than any human-caused environmental damage. I am, of course, talking about the long forgotten ManBearPig. And, guys, this is super cereal.
For those lucky enough to have never experienced the fear of knowing who or what ManBearPig is, the creature is ½ man, ½ bear and ½ pig. Al Gore has been leading the ManBearPig hunt for close to a decade now, and according to Gore, “ManBearPig doesn’t care who you are or what you’ve done. ManBearPig simply wants to get you.” It’s time for us all to stand with Al and rid our world of ManBearPig once and for all. I’m with you, Al. I’ll be your friend. Mr. Trump, will you be our friend too?
The South Park season finale is coming this Wednesday, so the timing of the Trump-Gore meeting is destiny. I have all the faith in the world that Matt Stone and Trey Parker will do the right thing and bring back ManBearPig, along with his unrelenting stalker. Excelsior!
